On March 8th, Merali scholarship program collab with female students managing boards in HUST, VNU and NUCE to organize an exchange meeting at NUCE meeting hall. This activity took place on Women’s Day to gather all female students in an meaningful event, honor scholars who overcome hardship and achieve good grades in the 1st semester of year 2013 – 2014. This also was the first gathering in 2014 and more would be planned in the future.

There were 100 scholarship recipients participated in the meeting. They were female students who had difficulties but rose above challenge and kept up good grades although their major were claimed to be unsuitable for girls. They started to study specialized subjects and get used to academic credit system which required them to have serious attempt and improve learning method in order to keep up. In the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hoang – Head of Office of Political & Students Affairs, NUCE’s Merali scholars manager, said that out of all scholarship programs NUCE had associated with, Merali scholarship program had one of the best managing method on the scholars, organized many interesting activities to gain confidence and improve soft skills, prepare them for graduation. Although those activities took lots of time to arrange, the program had had good impact on the female students. Over 20 scholarship recipients in NUCE had improved results, none of them was disqualified because of bad grades. The meeting also attracted community’s attention. There were 2 non-professional singers, Hoang Hieu and Cuong Tom, volunteered to perform on the occasion of Women’s Day, along with other performances prepared by Merali scholars themselves.
