Provision of scholarships for talented female students majoring in ICT and Computer Sciences (CS) – Academic year 2018 – 2019

With the aim of providing women with digital skills and increasing their participation in ICT, and with generous support from Microsoft, CED is able to expand its long-term and successful scholarship and support programmes in Vietnam to engage more young women in technical and hard science fields across Vietnam, including ICT and CS. As in previous years, the 3rd year Microsoft YouthSpark Scholarship programme aims to:

  • Provide scholarships and necessary support to 80 female students in order to enable them to obtain the career they aspire to within ICT and other technology sectors.
  • Empower and encourage more women to engage in ICT through capacity building and communication efforts.

Students from computer science and IT majors from the following universities are able to apply for scholarships:

  • VNU University of Engineering and Technology (VNU-UET)
  • Hanoi University of Science & Technology (HUST)
  • Da Nang University of Technology (DUT)
  • Can Tho University (CTU)
  • Hue University of Science (HUSC)
  • Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT)
  • Ho Chi Minh City University of Information Technology (UIT)
  • HCMC University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE)
  • Hue Industrial College (HUEIC)

 

Who Is Eligible For A Scholarship?

  • Female students who will have just been admitted or will have advanced to second or third year in the academic year of 2017-2018, to the above-mentioned universities. Students must be majoring in Computer Science.
  • Must be talented and committed to pursuing careers and work in ICT or related technology sectors.
  • Students from disadvantaged groups or families with difficulties will be prioritized.
How To Apply For Scholarships:

  1. Motivation letter;
  2. An essay, maximum 800 words, on one of the following topics “your dream, future plans, future career
  3. A Curriculum Vitae (CV) with photos that is certified by the local authorities where the students are coming from;
  4. Financial statements or status certified by the local authorities where the students’ parents reside or where they work;
  5. A copy of their household registration books and other transcripts from previous academic years.

Students can apply for a scholarship online, only those who are selected to receive a scholarship will have to submit the application package in hard copies, certified by their universities or local authorities.

IMG_7878-2 Benefits For Scholarship Recipients: With financial support from Microsoft, CED will provide selected scholarship recipients with 600 USD. The scholarships for selected recipients will be paid in three instalments during an academic year. Besides financial support, CED will support the organisation of training programmes, volunteer and internship opportunities. Moreover, there will be events for the students to interact with each other and help them gain new knowledge and skills.
