The scholarship recipients must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher (on the four-point system). Any student who cannot maintain those grades over two consecutive semesters, will be removed from the scholarship program, and replaced by another eligible student. The profile of the replacement student will be sent to CED and The Asia Foundation for consideration. The replacement student will be chosen if she has the same major as the excluded student, comes from a disadvantaged background, and has good academic standing.

Rights and responsibilities of scholarship recipients:

  • Can receive the scholarship annually during the 4 or 5 years of study at the university (until graduation).
  • To ensure transparency of the program, scholarship recipients must have a bank account through Vietinbank in order to receive scholarship payments.
  • Scholarship payments will be given to the students three times over the year: the beginning of the school year, the beginning of the 2nd semester, and at the end of the school year.
  • Scholarship recipients are expected to complete all their courses with good grades (GPA of 2.0 or higher) to receive the scholarship in the next semester.
  • Scholars must use the money from the scholarship for study purposes (apart from food and accommodation expenses).
  • Every year, students in the scholarship program have to submit the following records to the project management team: (i) spending plan of scholarship payments over the school year; (ii) midterm study report; (iii) final report of the school year.
  • Spending plan (submitted at the beginning of the school year – no later than Sept. 30th): Students must include a budget for the scholarship payments including tuition fees, books, school supplies, etc. In 2015 the deadline for submission of the spending plan was no later than 15/11/2015. The money is only used for these expenses, not for other purposes.
  • Midterm report (submitted after receiving grades from the first semester – no later than Mar. 1st): students must include test results and grades from the first semester, as well as explanations of achievements or difficulties that affected their grades.

All students from the scholarship program at both universities will meet annually.
  • Scholarship recipients are expected to actively participate in all activities organized by the CED and their universities.
