Scholarship for girls

Scholarship for girls: As in many other countries across Asia, cultural practices and traditions in Vietnam place a lower value on girls and women compared to boys and men. Vietnamese girls are more likely to be kept out of school than boys, as rural families that cannot afford to educate all of their children will traditionally choose to educate their sons before their daughters. This disadvantage hinders girls and women throughout their lives, perpetuating a vicious cycle of illiteracy, poverty and illhealth in individual families and communities and also hinders Vietnam’s overall development. CED  supports long-term and short-term scholarships programs for girls from rural and remote areas in Vietnam to ensure their access to secondary and higher education.
