Introduction to the Merali Scholarship Program

The Merali Scholarship Program draws funding from the generous support of the Shirin Pandju Merali Foundation and the Asia Foundation in association with the Centre for Education and Development. Because of these grants female students are given support with their studies.

Shirin Merali Foundation was established by Mr. Pandju Merali to offer financial support to women in developing countries in the form of scholarships. This gives them the opportunity to pursue better career paths and secure a better life for themselves and their families.

Introduction to the Merali Scholarship Program

In Vietnam, The Merali Scholars Program provides scholarships for 100 young women to attend four year undergraduate degree programs in the fields of hard science, within three prominent, public universities across Vietnam. The Universities are as follows:

Five year Programs (60 scholars)

  • 40 young women studying five-year programs in IT, Biochemistry, etc. at Hanoi University of Science and Technology
  • 20 young women studying a five-year program in Civil Engineering at the National University of Civil Engineering in Hanoi.

Four-year Programs (40 scholars)

  • 40 young women studying four-year programs in hard sciences (Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics) at Hanoi National University.

Value of this Scholarship:

Each scholarship will cover tuition, books, notebooks, and school supplies needed during the school year. Scholarships are not used for other purposes such as paying rent, etc…
