Hanoi, October 8, 2022— AES Mong Duong Company, Ltd., a subsidiary of AES Vietnam, collaborated with the Center of Education and Development (CED) to organize the Future Energy forum—Future Energy and employment opportunities for electrical students at Hanoi University of Technology (HUST). More than 200 electrical students from the universities in the Future Energy Scholarship of AES Mong Duong attempted to attend the forum. At the forum, experts shared with them information about current technology trends, knowledge, and skills needed to prepare before applying for a job in this field after graduation.

In the years 2022–2023, 30 scholarships will be given to 30 students from 5 universities, namely Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Electric Power University, University of Natural Sciences-Hanoi National University, University of Technology Hanoi, and University of Technology Quang Ninh. This will be the sixth year that AES Vietnam sponsors scholarships for gifted students who demonstrate their passion and determination to pursue a career path in the electricity industry with outstanding academic achievements, especially for students who have household registration in the province of Quang Ninh. With a focus on investing in education and training to develop a highly trained workforce for Vietnam’s energy industry, AES Vietnam pledges to provide long-term community assistance.

At the forum, Mr. Kris Larson, Project Construction Manager, AES Vietnam shared: “ I’m happy to learn that the Future Energy Scholarship Program is in its fifth year and has helped so many excellent students. This is a component of AES Vietnam’s community support program, which invests in education since it is crucial to the long-term sustainability of any nation. Our scholarship program is designed to support students as they pursue further education, work to expand their skill sets, and pursue careers in the energy sector.”

The scholarship program is specifically designed with the aim of reducing the financial burden, offering career guidance, developing soft skills, and supporting scientific research. Furthermore, while providing each student with 14 million VND, the scholarship also awarded 10 groups of students 70 million VND to assist ministerial-level scientific research projects in the field of energy. Additionally, as part of the scholarship, CED will offer English classes and intense training programs to help students advance their knowledge and potential, while also get a head start on their future careers.

The Future Energy Scholarship consistently receives strong support from university administrators and continues to draw in a growing number of students. Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) Council Chairman Prof. Dr. Le Anh Tuan remarked, “The AES Future Energy Forum is a useful and experiential forum for students. Here, the students can meet and exchange with managers, experts, scientists, and people who are working in the field of sustainable energy. Knowledge gained from the forum is important for students to prepare for the future and bring sustainable values to contribute to the community. We would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation for AES Vietnam and the Hanoi University of Science and Technology’s effective collaboration..”

Tran Manh Cong, a recent graduate of Hanoi Univeristy of Science and Technology’s Institute of Electrical Engineering, shared his experiences with the forum: “I achieved the Future Energy scholarship the year I entered the university in 2017. I am quite proud of this accomplishment from my college days. My time at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology was greatly aided by the scholarship. My family and I were able to pay my way through university thanks to the financial aid. I also used it to pick up new abilities to better myself. Along with offering financial assistance, the fellowship also conducted soft skills classes that aided in my development as a person. I also had the chance to learn with other excellent students from prestigious universities as part of the scholarship program. Field trips and interacting with other students have left me with wonderful experiences that have shaped who I am.”
