On March 25th, 2018, The Asia Foundation and The Center for Education and Development collaborated with Nam Dinh’s Association for Promoting Education, to organize a scholarship ceremony to 114 disadvantage female students with a desire to learn in Nam Dinh. The Asia Foundation’s scholarship program is worth 4 million/student/year, and was financed by Mrs. Dodson.

“The scholarship has helped me a lot it enabled me to cover my study fees, gave me more confident and helped me to have faith in the future. It has motivated me and has been a great comfort to enable me to face all the serious difficulties in life” said Nguyen Thi Hong (the student in 9th grade in Thanh Loi Junior High School)

In addition, the Center for Education and Development collaborated with Microsoft and guests who are working and studying in the Information Technology Industry, to organize the STEM orientation for students.

(There were many guests who are female students in Information Technology of Ha Noi University of Science and Technology and University of Engineering and Technology)

The Asia Foundation’s scholarship program for disadvantaged studious female students of junior high school was established in 2004, and the main target of the fund is to facilitate the development capacity for women and other vulnerable people.The Asia Foundation’s scholarship program supported 201 students in primary schools, junior high schools and upper high schools in Nam Dinh province, Can Tho province, An Giang province and Hau Giang province. Since 2017, the program has also extended into Dien Bien province.
